Find out which platform your Hisense runs
Look at the home screen. Hisense's US support pages list Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV (Amazon), Roku TV and VIDAA models. Most Hisense TVs sold in the UK run VIDAA. Each platform has its own remote and its own pairing steps.
Google TV and Android TV: pair the remote
Hisense's Quick Setup Guide for its 2022 Android TV models gives these steps. The pairing button is shown as an icon in the guide, so check the Quick Setup Guide for your model.
- Turn on the TV. The remote can't pair while the TV is in standby.
- Keep the remote within 10 feet of the TV.
- Press Home, open Settings, and select Remotes & Accessories.
- Press and hold the pairing button shown in your Quick Setup Guide for at least 3 seconds.
- Select the remote's name and press OK. The TV shows a message when pairing works. If it fails, repeat the steps.
Google TV and Android TV: if the remote acts up
- An unknown error can be caused by interference. Remove what's causing it and pair again.
- If the batteries are fine but the remote misbehaves, Hisense says to take the batteries out and press any key for 1 to 2 seconds. Then put the batteries back.
- Google's advice for any Google TV: unplug the TV for 10 seconds, plug it back in, and pair again.
Roku TV: pair a voice remote
- With no working remote, unplug the TV, wait at least 5 seconds, plug it back in, and wait for the Home screen.
- If the remote has a pairing button (on the back or under the battery cover), hold it for 5 seconds until the status light flashes.
- If there's no pairing button, hold Back and Home for 5 seconds until the status light flashes.
- Make sure the TV and the remote are both in pairing mode at the same time.
Fire TV: pair the Alexa Voice Remote
Hisense Fire TV models pair their Alexa Voice Remote automatically during setup. If pairing fails, the TV prompts you to press HOME on the remote. If that doesn't work, take the batteries out and put them back, or replace them.
VIDAA (most UK models)
We couldn't confirm Hisense UK's own remote pairing steps for VIDAA TVs, so we don't list a button combination here. Check the user manual for your model. VIDAA's official VIDAA mobile app can control the TV without a remote while you sort it out.
Use the buttons on the TV
Hisense says you can use the power button and side buttons on the TV to change channels and volume. Hisense also notes that newer models have fewer buttons, so check what your model has.
Use your iPhone while you fix it
Your phone can stand in for the remote. Hisense points to its Hisense Remote NOW app, and to the platform apps for its Android and Roku TVs. On a Hisense Google TV, Google's own Google TV app works as a remote. On a Roku TV, use the Roku app. On VIDAA, use the VIDAA app. Your phone and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Simple TV Remote is an iPhone remote that works over your home Wi-Fi. It works only if your TV runs a platform it supports. Check your model at /compatibility/.
- A phone remote can't help with a TV that has never been connected to Wi-Fi.
Use your iPhone instead
Simple TV Remote works with Hisense TVs that run Google TV and Roku TV, over your home Wi-Fi. Check your model, then try it free in the app.

Questions
Why is my Hisense remote not working?
Usually the batteries are flat, the remote has lost its pairing, or it's a remote made for a different Hisense system. Check the home screen to see whether your TV runs Google TV, Roku TV, Fire TV or VIDAA, then follow the pairing steps for that system.
How do I pair a Hisense Google TV or Android TV remote?
Turn the TV fully on, since the remote can't pair while the TV is in standby, and stay within 10 feet. Press Home, open Settings > Remotes & Accessories, hold the pairing button shown in your Quick Setup Guide for at least 3 seconds, then select the remote. The TV shows a message when it works.
How do I pair a Hisense Roku TV remote?
Hold the pairing button on the back or under the battery cover for 5 seconds until the status light flashes. If there's no pairing button, hold Back and Home for 5 seconds. With no working remote, unplug the TV for 5 seconds first and pair when the Home screen appears.
How do I reset a Hisense remote?
For Hisense Android TV remotes, take the batteries out and press any key for 1 to 2 seconds, then put the batteries back. Pair the remote again afterward. Hisense gives this step in its Quick Setup Guide for when the batteries are fine but the remote misbehaves.
How do I pair a Hisense Fire TV remote?
Hisense Fire TV models pair the Alexa Voice Remote during setup. If pairing fails, the TV asks you to press Home on the remote. If that doesn't work, take the batteries out and put them back, or replace them.
My Hisense VIDAA remote won't work. What should I do?
Start with fresh batteries and a restart of the TV, then check the user manual for your model's pairing steps. We couldn't confirm Hisense's own pairing buttons for VIDAA, so we don't list them. VIDAA's own VIDAA app can control the TV meanwhile.
Can I use a Hisense TV without a remote?
Yes. Use the power button and side buttons on the TV, though newer models have fewer buttons. Or use a phone app that matches your TV: Hisense Remote NOW, the Google TV app, the Roku app or the VIDAA app.
Can Simple TV Remote control my Hisense TV?
Yes, on Hisense TVs with Google TV, Android TV or Roku TV, as long as the TV is on your Wi-Fi. Hisense VIDAA and Fire TV models aren't on our list yet. The free check in the app tells you for sure before you pay.
Why won't my new Hisense remote pair?
Check that the remote is made for your TV's platform, since each platform has its own remote and pairing steps. On Hisense Android TV models, the TV also has to be fully on, not in standby, while you pair.
Can I pair a Hisense remote while the TV is in standby?
Hisense's Quick Setup Guide says the remote can't be paired while the TV is in standby. Turn the TV fully on first, and keep the remote within 10 feet.
