What works
Hisense's 2019–2021 US H8, H9, A6G and U6G/U7G/U8G models run Android TV, the older Google platform that Simple TV Remote is built for; pairing should work, but these sets aren't tested yet.

On your TV
Turn these on once with your TV remote. Menu names can differ slightly by year and region.
Connect the TV to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone
Use the network settings on the TV. Menu names vary by year on Hisense Android TV models.
Install any pending system update
Updates can include a newer Android TV Remote Service, which makes pairing more likely to work.
In the app
Pairing takes about a minute, once per TV.
Connect your iPhone and TV to the same Wi-Fi network
Guest networks and Wi-Fi with device isolation block local control.
Open Simple TV Remote and pick your TV
Type the code shown on your TV
The TV shows a short code the first time you connect. After that, the app reconnects without a code.
Let the TV turn on from standby
Look for your TV maker's network standby setting (for example Sony "Remote start" or TCL "Screenless service"). Your TV's page lists the exact menu path.
Can’t find your TV? Add it by IP address
If your TV doesn’t show up in the app, tap “Can’t find it?” and type the TV’s IP address. Here’s where the TV shows it.
Find the TV's IP address (older Android TV menus)
Google documents this menu for Android TV; newer Google TV menus may differ.

Troubleshooting
Most problems come from the network or one TV setting. Start at the top.
The pairing code doesn't appear
- Check for a system update on the TV and update Google Play services.
- Restart the TV, then try pairing again.
- Make sure the iPhone and the TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.
The TV doesn't appear in the app
- Make sure your iPhone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network.
- Allow Local Network access for Simple TV Remote in iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
- Restart the TV: unplug it, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
- Check that the TV is a Google TV or Android TV. TVs with only Chromecast built-in can't be controlled this way.
No pairing code shows on the TV
- Turn the TV on and leave it on the home screen; the code only shows while the screen is on.
- On the TV, update Android TV Remote Service: open Google Play on the TV, search for "Android TV Remote Service" and choose Update.
- If it still fails, go to Settings > Apps > Show system apps > Android TV Remote Service and choose Force stop, then Clear storage. Then pair again.
The app asks to pair again every time
- Clear the storage of Android TV Remote Service on the TV (Settings > Apps > Show system apps > Android TV Remote Service > Clear storage), restart the TV and pair once more.
- Give the TV a fixed address in your router so it doesn't change after a power cut.
The TV won't turn on from the app
- Wake works only from standby. A TV that was unplugged or switched off at the wall can't be woken over Wi-Fi.
- Turn on your TV maker's network standby setting. See your TV's page for the exact menu path.
- On Android TV 14 sets, a low-power energy mode may turn the network off in standby. Choose a mode that keeps the network on.
- If the TV uses Ethernet, try Wi-Fi, or the other way round. Some TVs only wake on one of them.
Volume doesn't change on a Chromecast, Google TV Streamer or SHIELD
- Turn on HDMI-CEC on your TV and on any soundbar or receiver in between.
- On the streamer, set Settings > Remotes & Accessories > Set up remote buttons > Volume control to "Auto (CEC)".
How to use your iPhone as a Hisense Android TV remote
- Join the same Wi-FiConnect your iPhone and the TV to the same home Wi-Fi network. Guest networks often keep devices apart.
- Pick your TV in the appOpen Simple TV Remote and choose your TV. The free check runs on your own TV before you pay.
- Type the code from the TVThe TV shows a short code the first time. Type it on your iPhone once, and the app remembers the TV.
- Let your iPhone turn the TV onOptional: look for Wake on Cast, Wake on LAN or Wake on Wireless Network in the TV's settings and turn it on. It works from standby only.
Questions
Is there a Hisense Android TV remote app for iPhone?
Yes. Simple TV Remote is a Hisense Android TV remote app for iPhone that works with Hisense Android TV sets running Android TV. It pairs over your home Wi-Fi and sends real commands in a free check, so you know it works on your exact TV before you pay $5.99, once.
How do I turn on a Hisense TV without the remote?
Press the power button on the TV. Hisense says you can also use the TV's buttons for channels and volume, but newer models have fewer buttons, so check what yours has. If the TV is in standby and Wake on Cast is on, your iPhone can turn it on too.
How do I pair a Hisense Android TV remote?
Turn the TV fully on first, because the remote can't pair while the TV is in standby. Stay within 10 feet, press Home, open Settings > Remotes & Accessories, and hold the pairing button shown in your Quick Setup Guide for at least 3 seconds. Then select the remote's name.
How do I reset a Hisense remote?
Take the batteries out and press any button for 1 to 2 seconds, then put the batteries back. Hisense suggests this when the batteries are fine but the remote misbehaves. If it still won't respond, pair it again.
How do I use a Hisense TV without the remote or Wi-Fi?
Use the buttons on the TV for power, volume and channels. Phone apps need the TV to be on your Wi-Fi first, so for network setup you'll need a remote. Once it's online, your iPhone can be the remote.
Does Hisense have a remote app?
Yes. Hisense points to its Hisense Remote NOW app, and Google's Google TV app also works on Hisense Google TV and Android TV sets. Simple TV Remote is another option, with no account and a one-time $5.99 price after a free check.
Why doesn't my Hisense Android TV show a pairing code?
Install any system update on the TV, restart it, and make sure your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi. Updates can bring the newer remote service that pairing needs.
Can my iPhone turn on a Hisense Android TV?
Sometimes, from standby. Hisense named the setting differently over the years, so look for Wake on Cast, Wake on LAN or Wake on Wireless Network in the TV's network or system settings and turn it on. If it doesn't wake, press the TV's power button and the app takes over from there.
Is my 2021 U7G Android TV or Google TV?
Android TV. Hisense US moved its ULED models to Google TV in 2022 with the U6H, U7H and U8H.
Can the app turn my Android TV on?
We don't know yet for these models. Wake depends on a network standby setting, and Hisense named it differently across years.
